This post seems a bit cryptic.
It's a thank you to Fark.com, but I'm having issues getting it to publish.
It's my very first solo post under my own name.
Surely it wouldn't have gone right!
Ok, I think it's all good now... Something odd is going on, though.
I just lost a comment.
Kisses,
Kate
Thirty hits from TF is pretty good. But sadly your link became "redlighted" so it didn't make it to the front page for uber hits.
Depending on the headline & topic:
TF link = ~1-50 hits
Main page tabbed link = ~500-3,000 hits
Main page link = ~5,000-30,000 hits
The biggest of the big links have gotten upwards of 80-100k hits from Fark.
Totalfark is the best five bucks I spend every month - it really gives you a great sense of what the buzz is going around the web; we've had dozens and dozens of links submitted today about the Kansas elections.
But it's a wonderful community too and a lot of fun. Well worth trying out if you have the time. Cheers! :)
Hi Jay,
And welcome to the blog.
What does it mean to be redlighted, and why did mine get that way?
Kisses,
JanieBelle
Every link submitted to TF gets chosen for either posting to the main page (greenlighting) or rejection (redlighting). There are 3-5 admins (I forget how many) that choose the links which go green.
TF currently gets ~5,000-10,000 link submissions per day and only 50-100 of those make it, so don't take it personally - it's really, really hard to get something to go green (although if it has an amusing or eyecatching headline it helps).
I've been following all the happenings at AtBC, PT, and UD, and here for a long time, although I rarely post at any of them. But when I saw your mention of TF, I figured I'd chime in.
Love the blog, BTW, especially the new design. Cheers! :)
Hi Jay!
We feel better about being "redlighted" then. Janie was rather disappointed about it when you first mentioned it. I think she was kind of thinking it was a reflection on her blog or something, like a bunch of people came and then went back and told everybody our blog sucked.
Thanks for the comliments on the site. My disease-ridden (I think she's got the flu) lover here has worked really hard on this blog.
I'm very proud of her and the blog.
Kisses,
Kate
