Jesus Camp Bites the Dust!

Via Laura Elizabeth's blog, Christianity Today is finally spreading The Real Good News.

Becky Fischer's Kids on Fire Camp—the subject of the controversial new documentary Jesus Camp—has announced that it will be shutting its doors in the wake of vandalism and negative public response.

Fisher's camp—located in Devil's Lake, North Dakota—has been the subject of much attention since the film's release, with many critics and moviegoers denouncing the camp's methods as militant and inappropriate. Upon the film's release, the Kids on Fire camp site and the local Assemblies of God church were both vandalized, with damages at the camp totaling $1,500. Says Fischer about her decision to close down her camp: "I have a responsibility to keep the children safe."

We agree, Becky. It's about time you stopped f'ing them up.

Finally - one that's really for the children!

Well. I certainly don’t approve of vandalism, but what this woman is doing to these children is no different than Taliban lunatics turning orphans into suicide bombers! I wish that Becky would be arrested; she is obviously committing emotional abuse at best. Shutting down the camp isn’t good enough for me; this kind of crap needs to be outlawed. The Assemblies of God churches are among the most putrid examples of backward religious imbecility that I’ve ever seen!

And hey, I’ve only been AWOL since Thursday (did you think DaveTard had gotten to me?).
;-) Been busy, working with the #$%&* Dewey Decimal Classification, and my assignment is still not finished. Back at it tonight! Ugghh.

Agreed on all counts, PiGuy and Kristine!

"did you think DaveTard had gotten to me?"

In his dreams!

I certainly don’t approve of vandalism

I don't know what you have against Vandals, but I want you to know that my friends and I will still dress up as barbaians, make fun of Romans, and swill really hop-y beer every other Tuesday night.

Other than that, I agree whole-heartedly. Someone should press charges, but it would take a family member, wouldn't it? I don't think that's the pool in which we're going to find the sanity.
